Irvine Regional Park - Orange, CA
This spot is a photographer hot spot! Whenever we’re there you can find multiple photo sessions going on. But we’ve never had a problem with other sessions because this park has so many great locations to take photos. It’s beautiful during every season and has plenty of parking when you go at the right time.
Really great for large groups! We came here during a wedding for off site bridal party photos. The bride and groom had a total of 20 people in their bridal party and this park had plenty of space!
Big family groups work great because of its vast open space. If you have kids, the multiple nearby playgrounds are a great bribing tool for parents to use with their kids to help motivate a smile. Parents will understand the insane value of having a park in eyeshot. LOL.
Our favorite spot is at the east side of the park. It has the big open grass area with green foliage behind, then behind the foliage is the hiking/horse trails that show that’s beautiful open sky and California dessert. This spot is on the east side of the park so during sunset hours the golden glow makes every session really magical.
Entrance fee is $3 on weekdays and $5 on weekends. Weekday evenings are best to avoid crowds but like we mentioned before, the vastness of this park makes it easy to find a great spot.
Side note, if you and yours are hungry after your session our FAVORITE Chinese restaurant is literally right around the corner in the shopping center near Jamboree & E. Chapman. Our family has been going to Chen’s Panda for over 30 years and it’s amazing. Delicious food an great service. Our usual order is the cashew chicken, house fried rice, and egg flower soup.
Not hungry after your session but still need a pick-me-up? Our favorite coffee shop is just a little farther down the road near E. Chapman & Newport Ave. We always make a stop at Tru Bru Organic Coffee usually before our shoots for a caffeine boost. They have excellent coffee and great drinks. A favorite drink of ours is their blended chai!
But back to Irvine Park. Even if you aren’t booking a shoot at this park, add it to the list of places to visit. The have great events around the holidays! The train is our daughter’s favorite and the OC Zoo is fantastic and only $2 per person! Check out their website for more details!
